Substances such as iron or manganese, as well as carbonic acid, often cause turbidity in drinking water, impair taste, trigger unwanted reactions, and, of course, cause corrosion in copper or other metal pipes. The materials used in the filters are selected based on the properties of the raw water. The filters themselves are used in professional pressure filter systems, which are usually high-quality stainless steel vessels. Depending on the model, the pressure filter systems feature manual or automatic backwashing, which allows the filtered additives to be flushed out of the filters. This ensures consistently high water quality.
Activated carbon filters for removing substances like carbon, chlorine, or hydrocarbons
Activated carbon filters are capable of removing a wide range of substances, such as carbon, from well water. But they can do even more: with the help of a special activated carbon filter, herbicides and pesticides can also be reliably removed from water. These are undesirable substances that can have health consequences. Other foreign substances that can be effectively removed include medication residues, dirt particles, as well as bacteria and germs.
Sterilization and disinfection with UV light
UV light is a natural component of sunlight. A portion of this light is suitable for effectively disinfecting water. For this purpose, the UV-C light spectrum is specifically utilized. These are light rays with a specific wavelength of 254 nm, which can be used for the safe and controllable elimination of microorganisms. UV radiation must be precisely dosed to achieve the highest possible effect. The dose rate of this light component should be at least 400 J/m². The special disinfection devices offer the advantage that disinfection can take place without the use of chemicals.
Well water treatment using reverse osmosis
To use reverse osmosis for well water treatment, certain suspended solids and turbidity must first be removed from the water to protect the reverse osmosis system from impairment or damage caused by these substances.
Reverse osmosis offers the advantage of achieving an extremely high degree of purity. Furthermore, it is a versatile process that can be largely automated. The setup of such systems is relatively simple and results in low operating costs.
